Maybe I didn't search thoroughly enough here but can someone tell me exactly where the location of the OBDI port is on my 1993 850 GLT?

Pics/links are always helpful too.

Thanks!

Yours will be in the engine bay. Just in front of the ECU/TCU box. Betwwen the ECU box and the headlights.

Thanks for the response. I think I found it but not 100% I found a small white connector with two holes on the passenger side of the engine, near the front and just behind the headlight. Is this what I'm looking for?

I want to take my car to a Autozone because I heard they will check the codes(or let you borrow a meter) for free, but i don't know if they will know where the port is on my car. They probably should though, huh?

My service light has been on for a few months now. I had it checked out when it first came on and was told that it was a problem with the air intake manifold(?). Symptoms have been rough idling. If I just let it idle it seems like the engine wants to die but it never does. Sometimes a bunch of the warning lights will flash as the engine stutters, but then it recovers. It hasn't affected driving capability of the car. I didn't get it fixed right away because the mechanic said that it would cost about $500 for parts and labor. The part, he said, was cheap, but it was pretty labor intensive to replace it. I was low on funds at the time and he said there was no immediate need to fix it except that it wouldn't pass smog, which I don't need to worry about for another few months.

My dad has gone to this mechanic before but has gotten some bogus information about replacing a part on his volvo. It was a similar situation where the mechanic claimed that it was a labor intensive job. My dad ended up taking his car to a volvo dealer and they were able to replace the part in like 15 minutes. So I'm looking for a second opinion for my car but I don't want to have to pay the labor to have it checked out again. I figure if I can find the codes myself, I could get a better idea of what is actually needed to get it fixed.

they have obdI code readers for sale. it is either accutron or autoxray. honestly, it's not worth the money. if you have a haynes manual, it explains how to do it. if you don't have a manual, either get one (worth the money, like $15) or search the forum, there were several posts on how to do it. good luck and keep us updated as to your progress. oh, and the boxes are black, labeled A and B with a little red LED light on it, there should be a probe next to it or in the box when the cover is removed. there are also six holes where the probe is inserted.

Yeah, just search the forum. There's enough info here to troubleshoot the diagnosis.
