07 3.2 with sport, 18's and 40 series tires. my wife will destroy them when winter and pot holes come. tire rack has nothing reasonable, plus you need the tire pressure monitoring system too and its like extra $400. anybody got a good idea for winter setup? i want to put on 16s or 17s for extra tire height, those stock wheels are like $600 a piece...

I have a 2007 S80 V8 - with 18" tires, and 7000 miles.
I have the same concern as you with the low profile tires and rims.
I was told that I am limited to 18" rims due the the brakes - I hope
someone else can give us some input on this.
I would prefer a smaller rim - perhaps 17", and would like to get
away from the "low profile" aspect, since potholes and curbs can
destroy both tire and rim.
I am in Kelowna B.C. , and these tires will cost me close to $1,400.00 for
a set of 4 (tires only).
