Hi. I have a 2004.5 Volvo S40. Starting two days ago, the rear windows are always in a down position whenever I return to the car. To be specific, I leave the car locked with all the windows rolled up, and the rear ones seem to roll themselves down when I'm not watching. Since noticing the problem, I have stood and waited for up to five minutes, and they don't roll down. But whenever I inevitably return to the car, whether that be ten minutes or four hours later, the rear windows are down.

Basically, I'm not looking forward to the headache of getting this fixed. Has anyone ever seen this problem or have any idea of what the cause could be? I've tried numerous variations, including not locking the doors, disabling the auto-lock feature, locking the car from the door instead of the keyless remote. There is nothing else noticably wrong with the car, no electrical problems or other strange behaviors. Nor could I find similar stories in any of these forums or elsewhere. And it happens when I'm too far away from the car to be me accidentally doing it from my own remote...

I believe the firmware is up-to-date, and I don't want to pay $100 just to have it reloaded and not solve the problem. I saw a reference to the "door and window control modules" somewhere, maybe they should be swapped out? If nothing else, would it be possible to have the windows physically locked in the 'up' position, so they can't roll down at all?

Thanks all!

You could try sprinkling your car with Holy Water and hang a cross inside :)

Hi,
I have been experiencing the same problems as you have described. My 2004.5 S40 will roll the windows down on it' s own at any point after leaving it parked and locked. I was just wondering if you had gotten your car fixed or what the outcome was. I'm taking my car in tomorrow to see what the problem is. If anyone has any other information about this please let me know.

Thanks!!
