Hi,
I have just bought a 1997 V40 2.0i and I need help!
The horn doesnt work at all, I have checked all the fuses. Is this an easy job to sort? I have only until November until the MOT.
The rear wiper is stuck in the middle and does not make a sound/any movement when using the switch, do I need a new motor perhaps?
The gears are really loose and I often have trouble getting it into reverse, first and 5th gear. Could this be the linkage perhaps or is it much worse a problem?
I hope I havent bought `a nail`, as I like the car aside from these problems!!
Please can anyone suggest anything?

The gear linkage is a common problem Volvo do a linkage repair kit for it. The other problem you really need to check for voltage supply on each item before you will know if its a wiring problem or the horn and motor need replacing.

Thanks for the reply, interesting especially about the linkage repair available.
Will get the little tester onto the other things next week, and hope!
Kind regards..

You can replace all [3] linkage bushes for about £20, but I found only the front link by engine bay had any wear, only 1mm of worn metal but this was enough to stop it going into reverse.
