Hi I have recently purchased 2000 S80. I would like to use the telephone. I have inserted a new sim card (face up) in the slot. When I turn the phone on it only allows me to dial emergency call. I can not remove that from screen to unlock sim (menu 9) can anyone give me suggestions?

Hi, I purchased a sim card from vodafone for $2. With $29 prepaid option. Then i activated it.

I don't think it matters who you get sim from.

I initially didn't think it was going to work. I gave up and left the sim card in, the next day it was working by itself. It must take a while to activate. So don't give up. Make sure you leave the phone turned on.

Awe man, i want a in-car cell phone too. My original one got stolen, still have the wireing and hook ups. Just for having all the aminities the car had when stock...plus some. :beer: cheers!

Thanks for the information. To tell you the truth I thought we would need to utilize the older type of SIM card 32K to get the thing up and running. I have tried it with a conventional SIM card 64K but I may have had it inserted up the wrong way. I will keep you informed of my progress, it would be a shame to not utilize this feature of such a lovely car.

I have a 2003 S80 with the phone and was told it wouldn't work due to some licensing problem with the initial phone service provider. Is it now possible to use this phone? I have not seen where a sim card can be inserted. Am I overlooking something? I have the 610 head unit installed, and there's no digital key pad for dialing out. Am I out of luck?

I have a 2004 s80 with the keypad next to the radio and the phone in the middle.I also didn't see a spot to insert a sim card. Would be kinda cool just to mess around with it if its possible.
