If size not in parts books it usually means it's a special bolt, custom made for that purpose, by shape &/or hardness/thread etc. Caution on using generics in such applications. This is from my parts experience in Honda m'cycles, & I'd expect the same in cars. Guide will be: if other bolts are listed with sizes then above is TRUE & then I would only use OEM to be sure it would be correct. That bolt is too important to risk your own or your family's lives with.

When I did a total rebuild of my suspension, 91 240, I found that most of the bolts were specialty OEM. The factor that determined whether I could use a hardened steel replacement from our local nut and bolt shop, was how much of the bolt was threaded in proportion to it's length. Regular bolts seem to only come in standard ratios. What I have had to do in the past, is buy a much longer bolt than I needed, to get the length of non thread required, and cut some of the thread off.
Careful that you cut it cool.

I would be with you there, but unfortunately the nearest Volvo dealer is 200 miles away and in a pinch, I have to make do.

Monty Python skit - 4 Yorkshiremen -jest. Seroiusly tho' we can, in this country, be broken down 1200miles or more from a V dealer, and 500 or more from a qualified mechanic-who still may not be able to fix it. Extreme Long distance tows are not unheard of in this country. Most remote pepole tend toward diesels for relieblity and they CAN get it locally fixed, whereas if EFI goes down, it MAY have to go to the city for repair, unless you just replace everything until it goes again, because Marque qualified mechanics are rare out there, and I doubt that many, even now, are overly familiar with the many systems. Proper diagnostic abilities are essential, and many 'mechanics' can't do it. Most can service and repair easily enough, but diagnosis takes skill ans experience, and usually some good texts, and there's just too many makes and models to know them all well. Whilst they are all similar, they are also all different, and that complicates life too much. Some towns/zones are virtually one brand of car, because that's the local dealership, and it's easier to conform and have good service than be different and pay through the nose-both have to wait for parts delivery, as carrying stock is expensive and most (even in the capital cities) won't carry any more than absolute minimum. Almost all stock is sourced from the Eastern Seaboard. Even though the west is often closer to the manufacturer the stock goes East and is trucked/flown/shipped back, because it's only small amounts and that's supposed to be cheaper for them. 5000+km of trucking, $1.75/L , 100kph, 3-400bhp @ 0.47lbs/bhp/hr, 8lbs/gall, 4.4L/gal. 2 drivers @ $1500/40hrs, 72hr trip.+the truck costs, all for maybe 30T of goods. You begin to see the cost of distance, and as fuel rises, so it worsens rapidly. We have truckies protesting the price of fuel-a complete waste of time, because the Govt can't do much about it. They need the fuel taxes and the international price HAS to be paid. We even have our refineries threatening to shut down if the carbon tax goes ahead. There's only one here, for the whole state, otherwise we import from Singapore! Refinery-owned outlets are gradually pushing out the independent operators, mainly by sweetheart deals and secret rebates post delivery prices so they can undercut the independents without it looking so. obvious that they have an advantage. 20+ Govt enquiries in 45 yrs have failed to prove such exists, but it is annecdotal and commonly enough reported in the media to sustain it IMO. Retail price maintenance is illegal, but I'm confident it goes on at some level. Few get busted tho'.
