Hello all,
First time user. I have a 2000 S40 SE. I seem to be having a problem with the automatic climate control unit, It can't switch it off. When I start up the car both the Aircon & Rec lights flash for about 20 second. The manual recommends contacting main dealer. Has anybody got any idea's or do I have to pay volvo main dealer extremly high prices. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

The flashing light indicate that there is a fault in the system. You will have to have the codes pulled for the climate control system.

Ive just had my phase1(2000) for an aircon charge and to diagnose the same two fault lights flashing for 20 secs. Although my aircon worked fine and turned off. My fault turned out to be a flap valve motor(which trims the hot and cold). I paid £75 for the aircon charge(a half price promotion) £40 for the diagnostic and £185 to change the motor. They take the diagnostic charge off if you get the fault fixed by them. It was pretty pricey but I wanted a main dealer to do the work. As i dont know any Volvo specialists in my area. It is worth getting the aircon charged at the age of your car if you havent already as mine although it was cold is now much colder.
