:cat: Good evening Ampangbear.

I believe you have been perpetuating your seminal interests!

Now, just a very simple statement. I used to receive the Volvo Club of America magazine when I was a paid up member.

While it was interesting-most of the articles were of little interest to me because I was no where near the action. Because they didn't accept my credit card-I had to pay hefty bank charges for a bank draft to pay my subs. So eventually, I did not renew my sub.

The interesting aspect of this discussion (at least to my bicameral mind) is that the forum is already a magazine.

Nobody has yet said what a magazine would contain that this forum could not contain. ^_^

And so, the discussion continues.

Cheers :right:

Sterling effort there Ampangbear. :57: :trophy:

I got you.
First off, the "volvo club of america" magazine was not totaly performanced base. I have an old issue, it sucked, i wont even mention the magazine due to its suckieness. If you want a idea of what a magazine should contain look at superstreet, or even HCI (hot compacts and imports) besides the fact they are honda based magazines, THEY ARE MAKE-BASE magazines that sell millions of copies world wide.
Yes, this is sort of a magazine, but, you say what would a magazine have in content that the site dosent? Structure. Some of these post are lost in web space, forgotten about, till someone repost the same issue then go on and on with it, but thats what a forum is, a magazine would get to the point, show how too's and all that would be forever, forever in the hands of the fan, at the office, the doctor, dentist. It generates money, you could envest in public causes. Yes your site has 50,000 members. that could mean 600,000 possible paid issues. But thats only 30% of the consumer market, some and more people are ditching the net to stimulate the brian.
And com on, you cant get the same feeling surfing as you would reading and seeing members spotlighted. The magazine takes you to the action and lets you take it with you.
What is wanted, or at least me, is a magazine based on volvos performance and world wide fame. Does this forum have interviews of owners, interviews with shops and the views surrounding them? Nopi has a forum, but millons still buy the magazine. DUBBA DUBBA W B's have a magazine (eurotuner), volvos seem to be disincluded from those pages.
oh, the powers that be...

By the way, i kinda like the idea of what you said as well, on the forum being a magazine by itself. But i guess Volvospeed and Swedseed850 was thinking about reaching out to the mass population.

Besides, having a hardcopy issue sure beats the softcopy version.
:)

Plus, some heavy readers like me, prefer to read SERIOUS stuffs on paper and NOT online. And actually not even on the monitor. Yeah, i know what some people say about readability. But my friends and I are kinda sure that when Microsoft did their 'survey', they didnt include us into their sample size. HAHAH!

Kudos to EVERYone who have contributed to the forum!
And i mean EVERYone.

in response to aukland, who i might add gets mad respect from me 'cause he always starts off his answers with good evening-wonder if he is part vampire  , anyway, he is correct in saying that we are a magazine. BUT, and it's a big one (thanks sir mix-a-lot) the thing we don't have, like swed posted, are articles. now, if there was a dedicated forum with articles, that would be different. like swed also posted, no interviews of owners. another well pointed out difference. aukland points out that he is out of the loop, with a mag you wouldn't. all good mags have a tech page, also a newbies page, etc. my whole reasoning is that we all know the advantages of a volvo, they are mod-able, comfortable, decent on gas, etc. does everybody else know? it used to be said that hondas were cheap to get used and cheap to mod. what about us? just looking through any paper/used car mag, etc. will bring up several cars that are easily less than a thousand dollars. we all here who post regularly have been through our own stupid mistakes and are constantly learning from others through their experiences. nothing like being proven wrong when someone else does a mod easier and faster. and bear, i like a mag for when i am sitting on the throne having a meeting  and the mrs enjoys mags because she can roll it up and swat me if i get too, ahem, amorous at inopportune times :haha: and for swed, you didn't mention magazine

Thanks for all the help guys. But without an owner here to commit to anything or even grant permission there is not much I can do.
