I started my 2000 S80 yesterday and as I drove, I heard a squeaking noise when I steered. My mechanic found a steering hydraulic pipe leaking, the old pipe was a reasonable ‘L’ shaped pipe with a flexible hose on one end. The new pipe he ordered was shaped differently and was told by the dealer this was an upgraded pipe for better ventilation. In order for the new pipe to be installed the mechanic must remove the more parts than previously intended just to be able to install this new unit

If you are not sure about your mechanic's integrity-take your vehicle to somebody you should be able to trust-your Volvo dealer.

I think it is odd that he is telling you about the problems involved in doing the job. Why is he telling you in advance about problems? Seems sus to me. :huh:
