Hi all...

I just took my S60 T5 in to the dealer for it's 60K mile service. It was fairly uneventful, but one of the things the service writer recommended to use BG44K additive with a full take of gasoline once a year or so from this point forward to clean (and keep clean) the injectors and intake valves. They offered to throw that in for $25 but I kindly declined until I could get a little more information/get a second or third opinion. Mind you, this was also suggested at what could have been taken to be the "upsell" portion of the conversation.

Anyone else use this stuff? I read about it and it looks like a good deal, but is this additive (or any other similar additive, for that matter) it a good idea for our particular engines?

Thanks!

- Dan

Dan,
While I can't comment directly on the BG44K additive, I've regularly used Techron concentrate since I read about it on this forum (Tech recommended it). It's a fuel injector cleaner that I now swear by -- I feel the difference almost immediately. The "gunk" that builds up slowly and inperceptively decreases performance. I'll guess that BG44K is similar to Techron concentrate. I've become brand-loyal, though, and can recommend that additive. Whatever you put in, it'll help return the performance that you didn't even know you've lost.
Cheers,
Ed
