On my Volvo 240 DL 1989...If I drive awhile and get the engine hot and I stop the engine and try to start it again(like if I go to the gas station real quick to buy something) the engine will be real stubborn when starting. It actually turns and starts fine, but it acts like it is not getting any gas and will want to die out as soon as it starts. This is only when the engine is hot, not when it's cold. Any idea why this is?

A general tune-up, things like cleaning the throttle body may be enough to mask the problem. My car doesn't like to start when hot and has been well maintained. I'm used to other fuel injected cars that start up instantly - no matter what.

Some random ideas:
1. clean the throttle body, change the filters, etc
2. remove the hot air intake hose
3. the ignition power stage may need some heatsink grease
4. check fir intake leaks
5. retrieve OBD codes

i'm glad to hear it's nothing serious! i'll add those to my list of things needed to do for my car.
