I need to replace my rear wheel bearings on a 1988 240D Station Wagon, automatic, 4 cyl.  Could anyone help me with the following questions?
1.  Can I just use new bearings from one of the discount parts stores, or should I get a specific brand to replace?
2. How do I remove the old wheel bearings? (I already have the axles out from the car).
3.  I believe these rear wheel bearings are pressed on.  What/who do I need to see to get the new ones "pressed on" - and what does that mean?
4.  Are there any tips/tricks to this process that I should know about that isn't covered in Chilton or Bentley books?Thank you in advance for helping out a noobie.

I would recommend that you take the axles to a machine shop to have them pressed on. I think the seals should be done at the same time so bring them with you as well.

I would stay with a name brand bearing, North American. or Japanese. Check out Volvo aftermarket suppliers such as FCP Grotton
