I was driving with my Ipod mini radio adapter http://images.macworld.com/images/legacy/p...2/2tunebase.jpg and it kept falling over. I put it in place over and over and then it fell out of the socket completly. To my suprise the tip had unscrewed itself inside of the jack. I got most of the pieces out but atleast 1, possibly more fell through a hole on the bottom. Now the jack doesn't work and I can't get the pieces out through the hole. Is there a way to take apart the dashboard so that I can fix it?

I sure wouldn't take my dash apart for that unless you have a soft spot for punishment.

I would also try a different setup. That holder looks to be very unstable. My Ipod is directly connected via USB so I don't need the FM transceiver thing but here is what I use:

Pro.Fit UltiMount. It rocks!

I did buy a new adapter that works much better but the jack still wasn't working. I checked the fuses and it turns out that the fuse was blown! It just happened at the same time my ipod thing fell apart...or maybe the metal short circuited it or something *shrugs*

Hi,

In order to take apart the ligther socket, clip off the little square plastic around the socket, behind that you have 2 screws, take them out and there you go.
You probbebly short circuit the socket and burned something inside.

PS,
That adapter looks bad, No chance for it to stay upright and connected.
