The bulb in my 850 air-conditioner switch is blown - shown circled in attachment.

Advise on how the bulb may be replaced is greatly appreciated.

Dude,

I have tried with FOUR units of the switch. To change the LED seem easy and workable enough. But the minute i soldered the new LED in, and fit everything back together, the new LED dont last. Am still figuring out why... SLOWLY and taking my bloody sweet time. HEHE.

The options you have right now, is to get a used one and pasang lah.

Thanks for your reply. Finding a used switch to "pasang" not cost effective since the bulb may blow again in short time.

Shall wait patiently for you to experiment and provide solution in bulb replacement.

In autos most LED's require a resistor to reduce the voltage from 12volts and all are polarity sensitive (LED's will blow out immediately if overvolted or plugged in backwards and you wont necessarily see a flash of light like a traditional bulb) most use only 1~3 volts

http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/components/led.htm

I googled LED voltage and the link above has some simple info that can keep you from popping more leds. If you are handy with a solder pencil and have some basic electric circuit knowledge you can likely whip this LED's butt.

Nothing is more frustrating than "fixing" something then as soon as it is back together POP and you have to take it apart again

good luck!

Thanks for the information, Woodsytf.

Are LEDs with built in resistors available? - it would save us some soldering.

Could anyone advise on how to remove the panel containing the A/C switch to get to the blown bulb?

HEY, MANY MANY THANKS, man!

I sometimes, tend to think i can do almost anything. But with solid proper education in only Finance, with the others mainly from reading bits here and there, i always get stuck! Hehe.

Thanks, again.

I TOTALLY agree with you. After the fourth attempt, and the plastic casing melting to beyond recognition due to over-exposure to soldering heat, i am waiting for the next purchase of the dang switch. HEHE.
