Hey all, I am thinking about purchasing a 2000 Volvo S80 with the T6. When I went to look at it I was told the tranny is done and needs to be replaced. When they started it the guy said it leaks fluid when its running. I never got a chance to see if it truly was transmission fluid or what. I was wondering if anyone has had to replace there tranny recently and about what it cost. I am just curious a general idea what this might run me. Also the car ran really rough and the guy had to constantly give it gas to keep it running, I was told this is from the o2 sensor and possibly other sensors. Could this be true that would make it idle rough. Thanks

:cat: Hi there NDMFarms.

Take the car to your Volvo agent and get them to give you an assessment of what needs to be done on the car before you buy it.

You are now in the power seat. If you buy the car without the Volvo agent checking it first-you loose your power position.

Forget absolutely everything 'the guy said'. The only thing you are going to pay up for is that-plus what he didn't tell you!

Don't do anything about buying it until you have that car inspected by the agent and a full costing done for the entire car repairs and maintenance.

Take his asking price-minus the full repairs and maintenance, minus another $2,000.00 for good measure-and that is the retail price to pay for the car. That is how the dealers would cost it as a trade-in on a new car.

Good luck with your purchase.

Cheers :right:
