i have a 96 850 and just recently the alarm just randomly goes off dont know where to start not familiar enough with volvo to go crazy troubleshooting and would like some help on figuring out what the problem is

welcome and congrats on your 850. try locking the car with the key, then press the lock button and hold for a count of 10. unlock and relock, see if that resets system. if not, then disconnect the battery, but you will need the radio code before you do that as the radio will not work withouth the code. also, have you run a code scanner through the car to see if anything else is causing it to go bonky? is your radio playing, etc.?
