:) Hi

Last night I broke down and had to call the RAC. I was quite embarassed to find I was out of diesel despite my fuel guage reading nearly a half tank! I had thought it was the turbo 'gone' so I was pretty relieved!

I am trying to work out now whether it is the fuel guage or the lift pump. I assumed the tank held 13 galls, the same as the 740, so after I refuelled and it took 13 galls I assumed that it was in fact the fuel guage and that I'd been completely out of fuel. However, I saw on an American website today that the 1992 940 turbo diesel 6 cylinder inline 2.4 car has a 75 litre (16 gallon) tank, so in which case it may be my lift pump but perhaps the American Volvos had some different specs?

Does anyone know the size of the fuel tank in a 1992 Volvo Turbo Diesel 2.4 6 cyl in line car with the Volkswagen D24TIC engine please?

Many thanks

i wouldnt know about diesel, but my 740 has a 13gal tank and its a euro car, my 940 weirdly though has a 19gallon and its euro.

i am not sure bout the diesels, but from what your saying it could be the sender and lift pump assembly that has gone wrong somewhere. after a while they all do. mine has gone in my 740 - the needle jumps around everywhere. i know i can do 250 miles on a full tank when the petrol pump stops fueling the car heh heh

Matt
