I have a 87 740 GLE and cannot find the flame trap location. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I believe my mechanic replaced this approx 30,000 miles ago. I have looked in my Haynes manual and I cannot find this part. Is there another name for the flame trap? Thanks John.

well its most likely to be located down in between the two inlet pipes for 3+4 cylinders. there will be a small vacuum hose coming from your inlet manifold for it. it is in the haynes manual ... i looked it up before, let me get the page number ...

crank case ventilation system on an inlin e engine page 37, 336. page 336 is probably the better diagram.

for a v6 it says page 60.

this is assuming you have the haynes manual for 740 & 760 petrol 1982-1989, 1986cc 2316cc and 2849cc. ISBN 1 85010 540 5

My Haynes book is ISBN 1 85010 550 2 and does not have the pages you listed. My wagon is a 4cyl. but I would think it's in the same spot. I will check below the exhaust manifold. Is it easy to remove?

inlet manifold mate. yeah all it is is a pipe you pull off and its a little plastic bobbin with lots of little holes in, they will prob be blocked up so use some oil remover or de-greaser to clean it in hot water.
