I posted a pic of my manifold. I've confused some . The 1st picture is mine. The 2nd picture is what mine should look like I have been told. Problem is I have nothing on the firewall for a hose to attach to . .

There is a small vacuum line going into the firewall to operate the vacuum actuators which control the airflow in the cabin. The other device on the firwall has electrical connections, I'm not sure what it does, it's either a switch or a progressively variable resistance. It is unlikely to be an electrically controlled de-vacuum valve, as it doesn't have a filtered air intake. If it runs off the manifold vacuum, so It more probably a switch to operate something whenever the motor is turning over. You could probably work out what it does. BTW it may only be for automatics, so don't panic if it's not there. The plumbing for the engine ventilation shown in red squares is essential, and running without it will only cause troubles with excess crankcase pressures and their distribution, causing oil leaks. I hope this helps.

it does , that makes sense . Thank you very much for the help . I ordered a new flame trap and Tee etc from IPD. I'm still having an issue getting the correct names of parts down at times.

The flame trap is usually in the breather hose, but the oil trapis on the motor, and the breather hose usually comes from it. Make sure the oil trap is clean internally-do NOT use any solvents-as they may drip back into motor, drastically thinning your oil-very dangerous to your motor!

got it . Now I'll look for the oil trap . I want to make sure I get the basic stuff covered. The car has 202,000 miles on it but tons of maint. records.

Thanks

Rick
