I wanna convert my Auto 1986 740 gl into a manual from an auto. But i would rather not show up to a mechanic with a complete lack of knowledge of what type/brand/size of gearbox etc i would need. whether or not id need to mod other things (tailshaft, diff). im a bit blind on this subject and a bit of an explanation as to what id need, maybe a guess at a price would be very helpfull!

the manual box is bigger, so box tunnel would have to be beaten out in places, new bell housing for the clutch, you'd need a new pedal box for the clutch assembly, master cylinder, slave cylinder, fluid resovior, associated pipework, probably need to change the universal joint coupling, mounting plates for the box etc...
