Inside the center storage console of my 1998 S70, on the right side of the forward-most section of the console there's a "socket"-looking thing I can't identify. It doesn't appear to have anything at all to do with the lid/cover of the storage console as there's no corresponding "plug" on the lid that it would connect with when the cover is closed. The "socket" does have some metal parts inside it.

Does anyone know what this thing is? (No doubt it's something extremely obvious that I just couldn't figure out on my own! LOL)

Is it the OBDII plug that is missing the plastic cover that says OBDII?

Hmmm ... I don't know what the OBDII plug is and (since I can see "into" it the cover, if it had one, is apparently missing) but I'm going to look into this as possibly being the "socket thing."

Thanks for your feedback!

ON BOARD DIAGNOSTICS II, hook up a scanner or computer to check on the car. Located in the center console of your vehicle.
