Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a new car; a volvo. I'm really interested in the S40 AWD T5. My local dealer didnt have any used ones but showed me a 2.4 version. I loved the car's exterior, but didn't like the cheap interior. Then they showed me a s60 and I much prefered the interior quality. If I can get the interior of the s60 in the s40 that'd be perfect. I got my head in online pictures looking at the T5 and it kind of looks like it's higher quality. Can someone who seen both models perhaps tell me if that is true or not? Does the T5 also have climate control like the s60 or no?

Thanks

I haven't seen both personally to compare, so I can't actually answer your question, but I believe the T5 interior is pretty sleek. Mine is anyway, and yes, it does have climate control (which I love, btw). I am used to Cadillac and Lincoln and I definitely don't consider the interior to be cheap looking. It's different, maybe more functional, but high quality, imo.
The Volvo web site has pretty good photos, too.

I own a 2.4 and drove a T5 AWD, S60 AWD, and S60 R last week. A few notes:
  • S60 is a different aesthetic from the S40 - it's busier, some might say "gadgety".
  • The S40 is a simpler, cleaner interior. Is that better? It's in the eye of the beholder.
  • Don't judge the cars interior by looking at one car on the lot. There are a lot of interior options: leather seats, nordic wood trim, leather gearshift, sports gearshift and pedals, premium sound system, to name a few. Go to the web site and look.
  • The biggest bang-for-the-buck upgrade you can do (in my opinion) is go for the leather seats.

The interior quality between 2.4i and T5 really only has to do with the options. Do you want leather or not.....wood trim or aluminum, etc.? You can fully option a 2.4i or go bare bones with a T5; it'll be as good as you choose.

also, im not sure which T5 you were looking at, but some come with the Dolby Pro Logic sound system, which is absolutely amazing. mine has it, and i think it is the best sound system i have ever heard in a car hands down. for reference, i have compared it with the following cars

audi a6 w/ bose sound system
BMW 525i w/ harmon kardon
porsche cayenne s w/ harmon kardon
range rover w/ harmon kardon

the dolby pro logic beats all of those systems hands down.
i think it has largely to do with the large "center" speaker located on the dashboard, that just makes the world of a difference. the speaker almost isolates the voice of the singer, and no matter how loud you go, it is still crystal clear sound.

the dolby pro logic sound system also comes stock on BMW M6's, just so you get an idea of how good it is.

just a little thing to consider!
