I was in a situation a couple days ago where I had to make an emergency stop in a parking lot from only about 20 mph. Immediately after, as I tried to drive off, my car hesitated for about a second or two as if the tranny had no fluid...reved but didn't go, then it caught, and it's been fine since. It was fine up until that also. Fluid level is good, but a little dirty. Is this an indication of problems to come or just one of those 'wow that's wierd' kinda things?

Drain the transmission a bit and see if that makes a change in gear-shifting.

Otherwise, forget it.

cool, thanks. I didn't want to mess with it really. I'd rather just beat the hell out of it until the 5 speed goes in.
