This is referring back to the symptoms of my July 8 post. The car hesitates from a standstill, is generally sluggish and revs to high rpm before shifting into high. Searching for leaks I found a thumb sized hole in the main 3" hose running from the air filter box thru the MAF down toward the exhaust. I have already read 2 codes implicating this type of problem, a 2-3-1 and a 1-2-2. Assuming this is supposed to be a closed system can this hole cause these problems?

Did you mean the hole is from the air box thru the MAF down toward the intake!
I guess that if you have a hole after the air flow meter that can be a problem since the air flow into the engine is not measured correctly, try to close that hole with a strong masking tape to check if that helps, also try to reset the OBD by disconnecting the battary for an hour to see if the codes comes on again.

especially with the turbo's it wont help cos they will be drawing in more air to get pressure, it will just draw the split in and open it up more, gaffa tape or 'duck' / 'duct' tape is probably the best, i have 'mended' a few vans with this method, good for 5-600 miles. get this sorted asap, go to your local breaker or something and find one, alternatively try flebay, there is usually loads breaking on there as the parts from volvo can get expensive.
