I noticed today that rear fog light on passenger side was completely missing. There is just an empty socket. Is this expensive to replace- something I can do myself or do I need to bring car into Volvo. I don't use fog lights- front or rear- so can I just leave it empty or better to replace? Thanks!

i'd replace, i mean it is a new '08. the dealership will charge you like a million dollars for it, check out fcpgroton.com or try vandsautodismantlers.com, they are junkers and might have a wrecked one in the yard. good luck.

I have an XC90 2006 Australian model and the left hand side rear fog light does not light
I enquired of the dealer who advised me that only the right hand side was wired to operate and that the left hand side only consisted of a red reflector.

If it is the same on the 2008 model, it may just be a case of purchasing a plastic lens and clipping it into the space provided.

I suggest you visit the dealer and try the lights on another new vehicle to determine if it lights up.

Check your manual. It says:

Rear fog light
The single rear fog light is located in the driver's side of the vehicle.

The rear fog light will only function in combination with the high/low beam headlights or the optional front fog lights.

Turn the ignition key to position II.
Press button 3 to turn on the rear fog light.
An indicator light in the button illuminates when the rear fog light is on.
