Before I found this forum, in my haste to fix the position bulb failure, I stupidly thought that the side marker light was the position light. Not being very smart again I forced the side marker light out of its holder, thereby breaking the plastic retention piece that holds the side light in. What to do? Should I buy a new unit? I actually can't determine how it would now work. Suggestions?

Recently I was driving along and found my side marker light was just hanging off the side of my car (still attached).

Personally I'd find some sort of non permanent adhesive. I'm using double sided tape for now to hold it in place.

I did the same. Find some sort of double-sided tape at home depot or lowe's. You could just super glue it if you want to. The plastic panel that the side marker connects to is completely removable so no harm no foul really.
