Please inform me where to locate the Temp Sensor and Thermostat in my 98 S90.
My check engine light came on and my fan was staying on for about 15 minutes after driving the car only a short distance--2 miles. The code said faulty Coolant Temperature Sensor. The temp guage in the car never even went up to half way.
So, do I replace both the sensor and the thermostat? Or just one to see if the problem goes away. Also, does anyone recommend where to buy these parts besides autozone? Any quick instructions on how to replace---I know, drain coolant and undo negative batter cable, but any other order of operation---thanks, just when all my warning lights were off for weeks, now this!!!!! This car does start to drain my patience and in the current economy, I have to DIY!!

hello the temp sensor is located at the base of the thermostat housing. It has two wires connected to it and has been replaced in my S90 more often than the thermostat! they run between $40-$50. I don't understand why they put the sensor so close to where water could easily drip on it...? I hope this helps. It's easier to get to by removing the top of the housing as it is an obstruction otherwise.
