the dashboard warning lights (ignition, parking brake, oil and screenwash) all stay on when the engine is running in my 1987 volvo 740gle. Belts, oil and coolant levels and screenwasher levels are all ok. could it be a bad eart or connection fault

Try wiggling the ignition switch.Sometimes the ignition switch goes bad and the lights stay on like that.
