I'm told that the V50s are very hard on front wheel bearings.
The dealer has a listing of "3" part numbers for a 2006 diesel model alone which would suggest that they are a problem.
Has anybody had this issue and replaced the bearings themselves or has it been a main dealer only job?

Thanks a lot

I have only replaced 2 front bearings on 2 different v50's in 3 years, not that common a fault.

Bearing pressed into hub not bolted on so a press would be handy to install though you could get by without one. Bearing comes with flange.

Many thanks for the reply.
I can't find any listings for an 06 V50 front bearing from the usual suppliers. Did you use main dealer parts or have you any other suggestions?

Many thanks

used main dealer parts. If you are doing it yourself take care not to damage or leave grease on the back of the new bearing as there is a magnetic ring for the abs sensor built into the bearing.

Had mine replaced at the dealer after complaining about some noise in the fromt hubs. Dealer had a rough time getting the bearings off and had to send the hubs out to another shop to have them removed. Since then, no problems... Parts replaced were OEM.

Tech said that this has been an issue with some V50's and was happy to replace both under warranty. Suspected flawed seal design...

Good luck
