Hello, I am very interested in buying this supercharger from www.airplusauto.com for my 1996 Volvo 960.

B&B PERFORMANCE LINE ELECTRIC SUPERCHARGER SYSTEM * HOT * INTRODUCTORY PRICE OFFER *
The only supercharger in the market with Velocity Technology which feeds the engine 3 x more air speed than the conventional air intake system.

* Add more HORSEPOWER up to 17 HP guaranteed.
* Powerful fan: 26000 rpm and 1.3 psi boost pressure.
* Street & Emission Legal in all 50 US States.
* Complete kits included (pre-assembled wiring harness, fuse, power relay, and activation switch).
* Easy bolt-on self installation with complete instructions included.
* Work with All Volvo. Attach to factory air-box unit / aftermarket cone air filter with 2.5" - 3.5" intake port diameter. (Please specify your Volvo year and model when ordering)

Is this a good buy? Is 1.3 psi boost pressure not that much? Whats a good psi boost level? I read quite a bit about the difference between a turbocharger and a supercharger and I think if I find an appropriately sized turbo for my volvo engine, the turbocharger would probably be better than a supercharger but that a supercharger is more beginner user friendly. I also read that a supercharger needs horsepower to get it spinning. Can anyone shed some light?

Thanks so much! Anything helps!

run away. fast. and wash your hands. this is crap. an electric supercharger is just a fan. if you want a supercharger, do a search for kenne bell. they do superchargers for volvo's. a supercharger uses horsepower because it uses a pulley that drives a rotor to push air into your intake. that is not what this product is. sorry bro, but you might as well take you $240 and light a cig with it. or just give it to a homeless guy to push your 960 from behind, you'll get more horsepower than with that thing.

yeah... oh well then.

i checked out kenne bell. do they have their volvo stuff posted on the website? i searched and found their stuff mostly for stangs and such. thanks for the heads up. its difficult to find any aftermarket engine part for my 960. should i just go to a local shop even for something as simple as a cold air intake? they also are selling a cold air intake and their website, btw, is www.airplusauto.com. thanks for your help

to be honest you dont have to spend big money to get a cold air intake mate... you can buy ducting off ebay for example this is a good example of what people use here in the uk, this guy is a good seller, used him many a time, would recommend for sure!

if you can, fit your 'induction' kit right infront of the rad so as your driving cold air gets blown into it and you get no hit air from the engine bay that way too. i have done this in my 740 and its much better!

unfortunately tuning for these cars is far and few between, you have to do a lot of research, i have found some sweedish sites etc... that detail it and various things. think there might be a few people hiding on here that know more about 960 tuning...
