I'm looking for instructions on how to dismantle my Speedo so i can see if it is the gear that has stripped, if it is the gear I'm told it is a 25 tooth one, does anyone know for sure?. I have tried a couple of sites for gears but haven't had any success so far for 740 Series Odometer/Tripmeter parts.

Hello.

Try going to fcpgroton.com they have the part you will need and if I remember they also can show you in pics how to change it out.

Gday Nalla :00000732:

Seeing that you have 2 7series ....
Have you had to fix/change your heater core?
I have to now .... seems no body on this site , ever had to do theirs .. or not telling me they have ........

Well this is teh first one i had to do in OZ
Had to do one on a 88 Ford Granada in the UK ... I had no option ... gets bloosy cold there

Regards

Gday Nalla
Good one ... at least you have got a speedo that works ....
Was the cost of it to your likeing ?

It dont really matter if you dont reset the speedo ... just as long as you keep the old one and have a record of the changeover klms .. for when you sell the car on .
Well that is what i would do anyway ...less headaches :amen:

lol ... the wrecker didnt have heater core going cheap

Thanks pal

It seems that i will be going down to Sydney early August and driving back up to QLD , so i may have time to call in on the wrecker.
This time i am driving up in a 92 Toyota Tarago ..... not that keen on it ,as apart from the fuel consumption (full load) .... the seats are not as comfy as VOLVOS  ... and i seem to have many more break stops ... to give the body a rest ... plus the bus like steering
After all it is only a upmarket van

Driving 3 returns trips in the 760 to Sydney ..... no bloody comparison :460:
Felt as fresh getting home as i did starting out (well almost ) not bad after a 14 hrs trip .
