Having locked the car with the remote it will not now unlock using the remote. The batteries in the remote are only a month old and the remote is issuing a 'note' seemingly indicating that it is working. All system fuses are intact and all locks are working properly (I can unlock and enter the car but not without the alarm sounding and the immobilizer being active) Has anyone any idea how to bypass the alarm sytem so that I can get it moving again? I don't mind having to use just the key to lock up in future

Just to update those interested and in case anyone else gets the same problem, the answer was quite simple and came from the local Volvo dealership (surprise, surprise - they didn't want any money for it!). Open the car on the key, allow the alarm to sound for thirty seconds and fire up the engine -   it cancels out the alarm and immobolizer and allows the car to be used locking it on the key only.

so that means that the key fob can't be used anymore. have you checked the central locking relay?

Wow, looks really DO-able.
Do you have to do this EVERYtime you want to start the car, do does the cancellation work forever...?
