Hi, I'd appreciate any help/insights. 82 245, 230k

Woke up after a rainstorm to see that my backup lights were on. Since then, my left turn/hazard lights are always on and the backup lights on intermittently. Igntion and all switches off, car locked up, no matter what (manual) gear shift position, lights still on. The green wire that leads from the fusebox to the rear left turn orange light is always live even when I disconnect it from the fuse terminal. Also the front left turn light is always on. Must be the same problem intermittently with the backup lights, although I haven't checked the wire. So I assume there is a live wire coming directly from the battery short-circuiting into the left rear turn light wire, and the backup lights, somewhere between the fuse box and the rear left turn light. But since the front left turn light is also affected, maybe the short is near the fuse box?

Also the fan belts squeal indicating a load on the generator.

The wires going into the tailgate have been broken for a while, but I'm tending to think that's a different issue.

I'm poor at reading wiring diagrams in my Haynes manual. Don't see a battery wire intersecting the light wire.
