Hi! I bought a 2005 (2004, really) S40 as a graduation present to myself. I got it from a reputable pre-owned lot and I think they gave it a decent little general inspection, but I was thinking I should probably have a Volvo dealership look it over before the factory warranty runs out in September. The car has about 25,000 miles on it.

It's been awhile since I've been a car driver (and never been a car owner), so I don't really know how much to reasonably expect to pay a dealership for this kind of visit. Are there any particular components I should be focusing on that might need attention before warranty coverage ends? The car is pretty much standard issue without any optional features.

My overall impressions of the car are really good. I've wanted one of these since the updated models came out in 2004.

Some parts of the interior have a little noticeable wear, especially the trim on the front doors. That doesn't really concern me, but surprises me given the low miles.

The 5-speed manual is a lot of fun, although the stick seems a little "notchy" compared with other cars I had back in high school. I'm thinking that's probably just something to get used to, and not a sign of any trouble.

My only real wish would be more straightforward iPod compatibility (and I know I'm not the only one).

Anyhow, if anyone has some thoughts on potential issues I should have checked out with a dealer, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
