'88 240 GL wagon: I hear a vacuum whistle whilst driving at traffic speeds, which varies when the air controls are operated. I conclude my vacuum actuators and prob most of my vacuum plumbing need replacing. It might also solve some stalling when stopping or going into drive at idle, and return me some precious mpg! Must be quite a large leak. Comments invited on how difficult the access is to get under dash etc.

On the passenger side (driver side in the US) remove the center/side plastic panel, you should see the white vacuum storage tanks ...

Ta, I found an 3/8" hose had come off the top of the butterfly. Old, stiff and split. I'll be doing some serious re-plumbing this weekend. It goes forward and down, perhaps to a vacuum actuator for the pre-heat? I've blanked it off for now. I hope it'll run better.
