Hi ,

I have a couple of questions i have just brought a 2000 W reg S40 2.0 with twin headlights it has 87K on clock and has had one owner from new full service history with volvo .

1. when i press the volvo hard its seems heisted at high speed (i think this it maybe due to the previous owner not pushing the car hard)

2. i have a rattle from the front end but cant find anything wrong .

3. My car does not have a info centre switch fitted can i fit a secondhand one from scappers there is a display under the fuel/temp which i think is for the info will the wiring be there .

4. i have 16ins alloys fitted with 205/16 tryes and it seems to be catching the front wheel arches (what is the standard size of tyres for this car .

5. i dont have fog lights fitted but would like to fit them is it easy.

1. I found the same thing with mine, however i just found after a while the car seemed more 'nippy', partly i think just me getting used the the depth of the accelerator pedal, it requires a lot more push than most of my past cars.
2. Not entirely sure what to suggest, my old car had a loose anti roll bar which made a distinctive clunking noise.
3. i looked into this myself and most the scrap yards seemed to thing as long as the display is there and you can find the wiring connector it's just a case of adding the control switch.
4. The standard is 195/55VR15
5. Depends on the trim level, some had the wiring already there others didn't, do you have the switch on the light control panel?

1-have you checked to see if there are any codes in the obdII
2-supposedly, the s40's are a little on the loose side. i would still check the struts. while down there, check your cv's, hubs, etc.
3-i agree with ben.cordy
4-the s40 do have a wide turning radius, so it might just be that.
5-you will need not only the lights, the switch, the relays, and the dealership to turn them on. not as easy as fitting the stock ones. just get aftermarket ones.
