Hi all, I ve recently purchased a 2008 XC90 D5, When the revs are approcaching idle you can hear a funny resonance type sound (it's kind of a deepish reverberation), It's been to the dealer several times, they can hear the noise but can't find the source. In fact they have also found the sound is present on all the other 2008 XC90's they have, but they reported it to the factory and the factory has said they have no reports of this issue throughout Europe which means nothing will be done about it. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?

anyway, i just realised that my car which i had just purchased two weeks ago (its a 2004 2.5) has the same resonance sound that you have mentioned...its a funny thing and a coincidence because we had a 1988 240GL stationwagon which had the exact noise at about just above 1000rpm...
the xc90 however has the noise at exactly 900rpm and its pretty clear when starting off from an incline...anyway, my dad listened to it and said that it must be a volvo thing!!! well dad found that the noise was coming from the read end exhaust mounting and therefore there is nothing to be worried about...so lets just hope its a "volvo thing"!!!!!!!
