I own a 1994 Volvo 940 with 230,000 miles that's been sitting for a couple of years because I started having some problems and I now want to get around to fixing it.

1. What service and repair manuals should I buy?

2. Do places like Autozone offer a code reader that is compatible with my vehicle or will I need to purchase one or go to the dealership or a repair shop?

3. The car would overheat and die when idling, any idea what's causing this?

4. A few months after the dying while idling problem started, the battery would constantly die as if something was sucking the energy out of it. Any ideas?

5. Not long after the battery problem the car started having problems gaining speed. It takes forever for it to reach highway speeds and when it does it will not go above 60 mph or so. Any ideas?

Also, what other really common problems should I expect to encounter, or some things I should check out before putting the car back on the road?
