Hi,
I've got a question on my transmission (1995 850 Turbo Wagon, automatic)
It seems that when I first get going in the morning, if I'm on the highway and let off the gas, the transmission stays in gear for a second, sort of like engine braking in a manual transmission vehicle. It's not drastic or anything, but it's noticeable. After about 15 minutes or so, it seems to shift nice and smooth. I know that it's due for a fluid change. I was thinking that I may flush it with some seafoam as well. Has anyone flushed their transmission with seafoam or a similar detergent and had any adverse reaction? I'm assuming that the transmission is the same as any other. Is the volvo one "special" in any way?

Thanks!
Pat

I have not heard of seafoaming a tranny. Wait on some more viewers. Sounds iffy to me.

Seafoam makes a tranny flush. I know their engine flush works great, but I've never used the tranny stuff.

same here, i've seafoamed the intake and poured it into the gas tank, but never flushed with it. maybe some others here can answer that. i've only flushed the tranny using a hose and gravity and the engines pressure as opposed to a pressurized flush. those generally harm the tranny, or so i've heard. do a general flush of the tranny and see if that helps. good luck and post with your results. i'm sure that it will be of benefit to others here as well.

It's not the same as the engine treatment, it's just made by the same company.
Thanks,
Pat

Pat,

I'd just replace the ATF first. And then work from there.
