I have done a search and as yet have not been fruitful in the results. While I continue to check can someone please advise how to remove the side mouldings from an S80 T6 (1999). These are the "black plastic mouldings" that are about half-way up the side of the car. It also runs along the back of the car, and run along the front of the car as well.

I am wanting to paint these white, and give my car an updated look (like the newer Volvos).

The front ones just clip off i believe, but the side ones are also taped with somethign like double sided tape. Not 100% sure but i believe thats how it is. So you would need to figure out what to do wit that later.. Maybe someone can confirm.

Thanks for the tips there Polska. The driver side moulding has lost some grip near the rear passenger door, so it's not sitting flush with the door. Barely noticeable but I can see it.

So to investigate as this has now let me see how it is clipped on, the side moulding has double-sided tape along the top and the bottom of the moulding as well as being held in place by some plastic clips.

As the front ones are just clips in as well, I suspect the rear one will be too. Well when I get back from holidays (which I start this weekend :57: ) then I will take these off and respray them to match the car.

Well you know youll have to sand them? Just asking because i know some people just want to paint them. But you should smooth them out first. Or is this going to be professionally done?

I have done it on my S60, I guess it is the same for S80.

Front mould - just pry open with a small flat screw driver.

Side mould - I have to open the inside door panel to unclip the attachment that holds the side mould plus the double sided tape at the edges of the mould.

Back mould - I have to open the back bumper.

THAT FOR 2002, S60.

Hi Polska, no it won't be done professionally. I was planning on getting something like 1000-grit sandpaper to roughen it up a bit so that the paint will have something to hold onto. I contemplated even putting a clear coat over it to stop it peeling for whatever reason.

I just have to now get a spraycan of white that would "match" the color code of my car.

I am in the process of selling it (but it's not moving anywhere) so trying to "liven" the car up a bit while I'm still driving it.

Razak - yeah it might be that the rear one has to have the bumper removed. I'm going to have a look tonight to see if there is an easier way as it looks like it sits in a groove.

I wonder if any white would do, or whether it would need to be matched to the Volvo colour. Anyone have any ideas regarding this?
