I have a Volvo S40 2000 model turbo with a rather odd problem. I have a problem at cold start and warm start,, when cold it starts fine then the revs drop right down to stall then come back to normal then drop down again to stall then back to normal.... now warm it does the same but revs go up a little higher...
I had the car checked on the computer Volvo and all is ok, I changed the lambda sensor and fuel pressure valve plus I cleaned out the fuel tank, pump and replaced vacuum hoses around the throttle body but still no luck.
Is there anyone out there that had a similar problem?

Sounds like the same problem we had caused by the crankshaft speed sensor playing up. I dont know if you want to try it but it was abou £40 from Vovlo and is very easy to fit. Also the car used alot more fuel and felt a bit sluggish.

Sounds like a bad cam sensor or crank sensor to me. Funny the light would not be on though. My light comes on for every problem you could imagine.

It didnt come on on my dads cars until a few weeks after it started. Then it threw the cel on and I go the code.
