hi,

my say nav tells me I am always located in the irish sea, a mile or so from LLandudno, even when I am on dry land in wales UK.

It gets upset because I don't proceed to the indicated route because I'm nowhere near where it thinks I am.

So it's useless; because it doesn't know where I am it can't tell me how to get to where I want to go.

This is a volvo -built in sat nav on a 2002 S80 SE 170-bhp.

how can i get my sat nav to recognise where I am currently located? Is the satellite the problem?

thanks,

colin

It could be the satellite receiver is malfunctioning.

I have had this problem. The car was under warranty and they told me the connection to the aerial (located under the rear parcel shelf - note, not accesiable from in the boot) was the problem. Its also worth having the satnav on and not moving for 15 minutes or so to make sure you get a good satellite lock. Check you're receiving sat info (settings/system/sat info). You can go into a diagnostics set of pages and reset your location there - but you shouldn't need to.)
