I googled for optium batteries, and i didnt get much help. I blackled it, and the results were similar.

When i put it in image, most i got was for the AA-sized batteries.

Anyone can shed a light on what it is. Why is it superior?

Thanks!

Perhaps you are looking for Optima brand batteries. They are a premium automobile battery, and what makes them so special is that they can be mounted in any position. -even upside down.

Aye they are very good batteries. I believe they are a sealed, gel based battery. Very popular for four wheeling also, because with gel, there is no water to loose or evaporate and as mentioned can be mounted in almost any position.

Optima Batteries

Found this for you. gives you the general idea what they're about.
I've always wanted one, but could never justify one for my brick.

The conditions of my mounting are none of you concern.....

Besides, it was cold, and I needed the ride.

HAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Looks like Greek finally meets a match. I say "a" match, cos this guy havent been tested yet. Let's see how far he survives, against the Greekster!

In anycase, thanks for the link on Optium. I have made a few calls to AAM, cos they are presently the servicer for my batteries, and they told me "not to believe all i read on the Internet". :alien:
OK, fair enough, but when i asked if they know of anyone who brings it into Malaysia, the guy started giving me stories of everything that could go wrong when a battery goes bad.

Hmmmm...

I'll call someone else tomorrow.

Optima batteries are very good batteries, although generally I never really consider them for standard cars. You pay a higher price for the gel style batteries, and usually their benefits are rather wasted on general road use cars. However, for any off-road use I would use them exclusively due to the rough treatment they would get off-road, and occasional need to mount them in odd locations to keep them out of the water when crossing deep streams/rivers or seeking out the perfect mud hole :).

Generally, for most general road vehicle use I tend to stick with Interstate for my battery needs, but that is all just my opinion and preference.
