woooohooooo.  and big daddy, look at my garage pics, there is one of my filter.  just a simple hose drilled into the side of the airbox, you could even drill a hole on the corner for more room, run the pipe in that space between the battery and the rad and attack to the back of the rad.  it is high enough and the rad would block out 99% of the water, whatever water does get through would probably be negligible to adversly affect the filter.

I like this idea.

Not too big though, your air filter and casing will get dirty easier if and when it allows more particles in. Hehe.

Actually, its really up to you, bro.

I have a K&N in there not too worried about it, I hate how oiling it is a guessing game though and the spray nozzle sucks on the bottle.

While on the subject, I've got a question about K&N filters. In a previous life I had a Q45, and some of the people on the Q forum had problems with the oil from the K&N screwing with their air flow meters. Any such problems with Volvo?

Yeah anything before owning a real car is a previous life. Thing is with the oil getting on the mass air flow sensor is its with all cars if you use too much oil it will suck it up and onto the sensor causing harm or failure. I always try to be sparing with it.

QUOTE(xpiecemealx @ Jun 20 2008, 12:22 PM)
Also, what would I need to move my battery like that to the trunk or just back to where th air box is?

another option you would have, instead of relocating your battery to the trunk, would be to put in a smaller battery and turn it. this would open up more space for a custom intake. im trying to find where i read about this, but so far no luck. ive been considering doing it to my 850 along with a cone filter and custom heat shield.

I was that a long time ago. I have a n/a engine. I still have an unanswered question above about where to route the silver tube in the back of the airbox to an after market set up.

for rosso, they put too much, it is not supposed to be sopping wet, just enough so that you can feel it. and for piece, there was no place to be putting you, just a hint that she might be reading here and maybe she wouldn't like being looked at like that. but you on the other hand are looking mighty sweet there. and for rosso, there was a post like that about turning the optima battery sideways on another post. i am looking into that also, since i am not really keen on pulling up the carpeting in my 850 to run the cables correctly.

i have read in other posts that the oil from K&N's can foul the MAF and temp sensors, but if you can afford the K&N oil you can likely afford the MAF cleaner too!

these links have some info about warm and cold air intakes. some good info to consider if you are looking for more "growl" from your hood.

That's one reason why i am happy with my sponge-type air filter, pipercross. Kinda of an afterthought, actually.

HAHA!
