UGHHHHH!!! My 01 C70 convertible's center arm console is cracked on both sides where the hinges from the arm rest lift meet the console. (visible inside the compartment by the hinges and obviously at the rear facing the backseat passengers) I'm afraid the arm rest will fall off if I lift the arm rest up anymore. What a cheap piece of trash that console is! I tried "stuper" glue and it failed after 1 day as soon as I lifted the arm rest up to access my gum. Is there any way to remedy this without replacing what looks like a giant one piece console?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Just use two small pieces of pipe strap(piece of flat metal with holes running down it) and some screws. Plenty of plastic there to reinforce the hinge area. You could use self tapping screws but I recommend drilling holes first so as to not crack what little good plastic is left.

I have attached what I think you may be referring to....

So I will basically (inside the console compartment) drill a new hole in the console and then line up the hole from the pipe strap...(placed vertically) screw in a new screw and repeat this again for the other side. (and also screw in the arm rest in similar fashion so that it is now attached to the pipe strap and the console).

Sounds like a plan. I would use some star washers to prevent excess movement. This will prevent you from wanting to over tighten the screws too much. Paint the straps with some flat black paint with black screws, but it will be inside the console so it doesn't have to look pretty. Good luck.

Gonna have to do the same with mine since it has started to crack on the one side.
