The low beam headlamp socket (passenger side) has burnt on 2003 S40 - Need info on possible problems and how to remove / replace the socket. I assume I will need to remove the headlamp cover so I would need to know how to do the take everything out and reassemble. I have replace the bulb but saw that the socket had been burnt - the new headlamp does not light. All other bulbs are working. Any help is certainly appreciated.

I'm not quite sure what you are talking about with the socket? My electrical plug that connects to the bulb have burned and melted, if thats your problem all you need to do it cut the plug off and put on 2 standard 12V female terminals.

Thanks for the response. Yes, the connector or electrical plug to the headlight bulb(passenger side) is burnt. Could you give me any info on where you got the terminals you described and how you installed the new terminal? I look forward to your response.
