I noticed it several years ago I got the car in 03 noticed it back then. This grime is coming out of this seal but them dripping down onto the frame and sitting there. It does not seem to be getting any worse but I figured I would finally get around to asking about it. I outlined the grime and you are looking in on the front drivers side wheel well. These pics are huge.

Is it really grime? I mean oil-based?
I cant be sure from here.

But if you said it appeared out of the seal, i reckon you mean the CV boot seal? If that is truly the case, then your CV Boot seal is not properly tightened.

Yeah it looks like white lithium. Its coming out of the seal where that big block of aluminum is. Its not the CV boot c'mon bear you know I know what a CV boot leak looks like. Give me some credit.

Looks like old gease. It may be from an old CV boot. Clean it and see if it returns. I doubt it's from anything else. It looks like the spray pattern from the CV.

While your at it, check you CV Boot. Run you fingers inside the creases too. Make sure there are no holes.

If that CV boot is torn, you will need a new half shaft.

I don't doubt you know what this may be. Just check very closely to make sure you are covered.

If all is good, it may just be from a previous axle that has already been replaced.

Everything is groovy I check my cv boots every time I take the wheels off Im super cautious about those suckers I had one bust on me on the other side. I will wipe it off and see if it returns but I want to know the part it is coming out of.

I second boost junky's opinion. It looks like an old thingy to me, so clean it off and see if it returns. If it returns, other than the CV boot, do check aruond the areas for any parts that uses a seal or has oil running thourgh it, the oils may be leaking from there.

Our cars in malaysia is right hand drive, and I had some old grease on the wheel well on the driver's side. I cleaned it off and it did not return. Just to be safe, I checked with the previous owner, he said there was a leak in te timing belt oil seal which he replaced, explaining the old grease stain.

Sorry can't be of more help than this piece!

OK, dude. Sorry. Didnt mean to discredit you of anything like that. Just that the pattern of the grease suggests so. Which was why i asked to check if the CV boot seal or CLAMP is well-tightened, at first.

But if its really from the engine block, hmmm... the cranshaft seal, then?
Hey dude, if you can see where it was coming from, why dont you take a picture...

Well now that you've cleaned it, you may want to wait to see if it comes back. If it does, you're going to have to do the seal again.
