I have a B23 engine that I'm rebuilding. It is a marine application (Volve Penta AQ151C) It is normally aspirated and is fitted with 2 one-bbl Solex carbs. I want to get rid of the solex carbs and associated manifold and replace them with a manifold and Weber carb kit that is designed to fit a B21 engine. I'm told that, with the exception of displacement, the B23 and B21 engines are virtually the same. However, before I put out the $$ for the kit, I'd like to confirm that the kit manifold will indeed fit on my engine.

I'd appreciate your comments :) Thanks, Tom

check the part number on the manifold gasket, if same, it'll fit.

You'll prob. have to rejet the carb with smaller jets. Diesels are best in boats, IMO. Petrol and propane are unsafe. I've seen too many fires and explosions in the media to believe anything else. Diesels are also more reliable, and start better than petrol. They have vastly superior service reports too, and use less fuel/bhp/hr. The biggest source of motor failure in boats is the cooling system. Petrol motors usually cannot produce continuous full power, but diesels are designed to do so.
