ok,

my car has had what seems to be a progressive problems, at first ( yesterday) it started making a strange noise after boost so if a accelerated and then let off the pedal once the turbo had kicked in, sounded like dumping pressure, all most like a blow-off valve, (tsh-tsh-tsh-tsh-tsh) a very quick noise like air blowing out of a pipe that has a sprung flap on the top so it keps closing and opening very quickly when the air is coming out. this happens only as the turbo is winding down and gets louder with more boost.
i like the noise but, it seems to have led to a rough idle, almost as if it wants to die, hovers between 600-1000, and occasional slight power loss(i think).
to me it sounds like a mixture problem...

i have no dash lights come up....does this eliminate the maf sensor as the problem,
what else should i be looking at?

thanks in advance

sean

Since its an idling problem, you can start with the idle air control valve. Clean it well, with a carbon cleaner. Then see if it comes back.

Take out the throttle-disc plastic cover. (Its black). Only 1 screw for this. Under and infront of the throttle-disc is a metal 'bottle'-shaped piece.

Take it out and spray carbon cleaner into the 2 holes at the sides. Until all the carbon is out.

Then place it back in, and start the car. Observe the idle now.

Remember to shake it well once you've sprayed the cleaner inside. A clean IACV makes a whole lot of difference in terms of idling and fuel consumption. Very easy yet very crucial. I tahnk Ampangbear for teaching me how to do this. :57:

thanks for the info i found it myself today, but im sure this info will help someone.

my problem turned out to be a hose that had come loose from the valve, which would explain the strange noise i got to, as it was probably the rubber flapping about under pressure.

thanks for the help
