New member here from the UK!

Anyway, just after a bit of advice really. I'm looking for a new(ish) car and was going to p/x my T4 in for it. I'm after a BMW 330ci or 330i sport but that's beside the point.

To cut a long story short, i've been to to see 2 cars at 2 different dealers and the money they have offered for my car seems insulting.

I have an MY01 late 2000 xreg s40 T4. 1948cc not 1855, met silver, full leather interior, manual, 12months mot, 5months tax, fsh (last done 2 weeks ago), 90k on clock. I paid 3.5k for it just over 12 months ago.

The car has been awesome but i just seem to want something new every year. I don't need to change it, i just want to - if that makes sense.

Both dealers have offered me £1k part ex for the car! Surely its gotta be worth more than that?? I thought car sales people gave £1k for any piece of trash as long as it had a valid MOT. I was expecting a good price because of the profit margin they make on their cars?? Would I be better selling privately do you think?

Any help would be appreciated.

fact is, the 'trade in' value doesnt matter unless it's something they can sell on. Your car isn't going to be gracing their forecourt - it's going straight off to auction.

So all they're offering you for it is actually how much the car you're buying is overpriced by.
